Our Careforce volunteer Samuel has settled in well and is a great help in many areas of church life. Please pray for him and also for Sarah, our community worker, as they serve the church and community together through various activities.

Thank you very much for all who faithfully prayed for the recent 18 day visit to Bratislava (July 1 - 18) I was very conscious of being 'carried along' by the Lord and followed a visit by a fellow Reading pastor, Dave Long and his wife, Kathy.

The Lord gave safety in travel and provided opportunities to serve Him via preaching and fellowship among the church congregation in Bratislava as well as in Trencin county. A local believer in Prievidza arranged for me to meet and stay with his family and we were able to have times of prayer and learning from the scriptures together. It was also possible to meet some elders of another local church and the Lord wonderfully provided for our time together. The question 'what word has the Lord given you for us? ' was followed by two hours of sharing something of God's ways with reference to the scriptures, closing with a time of prayer and asking for God's blessing for the coming days. The Lord gave a deep sense of fellowship and unity and we parted with several 'hugs'. God is faithful.

The Lord also gave the opportunity in Bratislava to bring a newly born young boy to Him for thanksgiving and dedication. The parents responded positively to the 'charges' that were given them for their parenting! Several prayed for the family in both English and Slovak.

Other times were spent with individuals, seeking to encourage and support.

The Lord also gave the chance to see more of the countryside with a visit to a log cabin in the beech woods of the Banska Bystrica area. The days of 80 degrees of heat were challenging but there was time for rest and reading too in a comfortable flat on the outskirts of the city!

Please continue to pray for the practical and spiritual preparation of Samuel's arrival amongst us. He will shortly be completing a diploma course in Kenya and applying for a visa. Meanwhile in the UK the elders are planning his work programme, study and pastoral care.

Please remember those who have been unable to join us on a Sunday recently, pray for them and keep in touch so that we may be able to help where we can. "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.... Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Gal 6:2 & 10.
